Child's Play Program

During the Covid19 holidays children all over the country have been doing what they do best,
having fun!

Play is so important for children as they grow and develop and all children have the right to play. In the rural villages of Kammengo, not all children have the chance to play and just be kids. Children living in extreme poverty often miss out on play and having time to just be kids.

Social issues that often go hand in hand with poverty often prevent these children from gaining the benefits of play on a regular basis. Many children are given responsibilities far above their capability at their age because of poverty, whether that be work, taking care of younger brothers or sisters or doing household chores alone.

Our Child's Play Program gives children a chance to play in a safe environment where they can just be kids for a few hours each week and receive food after a day of play.
These spaces have become a haven for children from all backgrounds who are growing up orphaned or from critically poor families. Currently we have 5 projects that have developed from the spaces for child play, run by volunteers in their own communities.

We hope to build a Children's Center which will serve a multifaceted purpose: safe spaces, fun and games, a chance to forget about the difficulties of daily life and also a chance to confide in a trusted adult.

It is from the Child Play Program that our volunteers hear about the true struggles of children’s lives and this has informed the development of so many of our projects. If a child is at risk or if their family is in a crisis, our Child Play Projects will often be the entry point at which they disclose these things before we can support them through our other projects.
This month our fundraising focus is to support children right to play and to be able to buy play equipment and resources so that they can have as much fun as possible. These kids don’t have toys, games or footballs at home. If you would like to donate even a small amount to help us towards our target please follow this link.

Lets explore how 10,000UGX ($2.8) Donation can change the life of a child

When you visit poor families in Mpigi, you will undoubtedly notice poor children sadly seated in shades, lonely and evidently not enjoying their childhood.

Question we ask is, "How can we create a smile on that lonely face?"

Solution? 10,000UGX ($2.8). Here's how...

We have recognized that a child is not only poor because the family cannot provide for the necessities of life. Child poverty affects children even mentally, and socially.

That's why Child Play is a right for every child. Children that are happy, playful and creative are able to scale above their family poverty and grow into healthy kids as others. This can be possible if they are given the right tools to support their psycho-social development.

Lets take an example of a Toy Ball.  Its inexpensive, but when a child has it, he can play with his friends, can socialize, exercise, and forget his/her sorrows.

Why not create a new world for a vulnerable child with a donation of 10,000UGX ($2.8).             DONATE A TOY TODAY!!!
